When Women Played Baseball: The Story of Margaret, Nellie, and Rose

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Crete Public Library District
Audrey DeMuth Community Room

Event Details

In 1934 three teenage girls played hardball on the last traveling bloomer girl baseball team. Their stories include abandonment, loss at sea, early triumphs, world war, and, always, baseball. Playing hardball on a barnstorming baseball team profoundly affected these three teens and played a role in their life choices after baseball. This program presents a historical look at a little-known part of baseball through a PowerPoint-type presentation full of photos and sports reports — and full of surprises.
