I Now Pronounce You Lucy Stone

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Crete Public Library District

Event Details

Join us online for a dramatic portrayal of an influential, but forgotten woman of history—Lucy Stone (1818–1893). The first woman from Massachusetts to earn a college degree, Lucy was an ardent supporter of human rights. Her belief that women and men should be equal was demonstrated in both her political and personal endeavors. Her impassioned speeches inspired thousands—including Susan B. Anthony—to join the suffrage movement. As a wife, Lucy refused to take her husband’s name, becoming the first to do so in the nation. Portrayed by Judith Kalaora from Boston, this program in recognition of Women's History Month will be livestreamed on Zoom. No recording will be available.
